Job Description:

Summary

The human resource manager is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior management. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functioning areas: benefit administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, and employment law compliance.   • HR Generalist
    • Develops and administers various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains the employee handbook and the policies and procedures manual.
    • Implements and annually updates the compensation program; rewrites job descriptions as necessary; analyzes compensation; monitors the performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.
    • Performs benefits administration, including claims resolution, change reporting, and approving invoices for payment.
    • Establishes and maintains department records and reports. Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings, such as seminars. Maintains organizational charts and employee directory.
    • Maintains human resource information system records.
  • Benefits Administration
    • In collaboration with benefit brokers, administers employee benefits programs such as retirement plans; medical, dental, vision plans; life insurance plans; temporary disability programs; and wellness programs.
    • Installs approved new plans or changes to existing plans by preparing announcement materials, plan summary documents and other media for communicating plans to employees.
    • In collaboration with benefit brokers, evaluates and compares existing company benefits with those of other employers by analyzing other plans, surveys and other sources of information.
    • Conducts employee meetings and arrange for enrollment. Advises and counsels management employees on existing benefits.
    • In collaboration with benefit brokers and the General Counsel, prepares benefits documentation, such as original and amended plan texts, benefit agreements and insurance policies. Instruct insurance carriers, trustees and other administrative agencies outside the company to effect changes in benefits program.
    • Maintains and ensures compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefit laws and regulations.
    • Assures company compliance with provisions of Employee Retirement Income Security Act and the Affordable Care Act.
  • Recruiting/Employee Relations
    • Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, students and temporary employees; works with supervisors to screen and interview candidates; extend job offers; conduct new-employee orientations; monitor career-pathing program; and write/place advertisements.
    • Identify and implement effective candidate sourcing strategies.
    • Handles employee relations, counseling, outplacement counseling and exit interviewing.
    • Plan and execute various morale and corporate culture events & initiatives

Experience and Skills:

Required Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field.
  • Three or more years of HR experience, preferably in a fast-paced, high growth environment.
  • Proven experience handling multiple projects and priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite products.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) credential.
  • Masters’ degree in human resources or related field.
  • Professional recruiting experience, ideally in technical or software development industry.
  • Experience in benefits administration.
  • Proven experience administering a self-funded medical insurance plan.

Travel

Little to no travel is expected for this position.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities however as the company grows this position will be allocated direct reports.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment and is required to report to the office each working day. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.
